Welcome To Your UT Austin Official Student Email
As a student at The University of Texas at Austin, you are provided with a Microsoft 365 account. This account offers free access to various communication and productivity applications, including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) as well as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Planner, and more. You can access Microsoft 365 training resources to learn more about using Office 365 tools.
Additionally, you receive a student email address based on your EID: [eid]@my.utexas.edu. Starting around summer 2025, this email address will become your official student email, and all important University communications will be sent to your "@my.utexas.edu" address. This email address will be listed in your student record as your primary email address, and you will not be able to change it. You can, however, set up forwarding from your official student email address to an email address of your choosing.
Who is Affected by This Change?
The official UT Email policy change applies to all current students, including those who have been enrolled prior to the 2024-2025 school year. If you currently rely on your UTMail (Google Suite address) for all official University communications action is required. Current students using their UTMail address as their primary account can set up mail forwarding to their Exchange using the following instructions:
