Meet Mary Slimmon, our passionate HRBP Director and the co-lead of our Pride Network Committee. Hear directly from Mary on her experience working at PointClickCare!"My Human Resources journey began 26 years ago in Long-Term Care, but I soon switched to the technology sector. I was always interested in working for PointClickCare, where I could merge my passion for helping others and my enthusiasm for technology. As an HR professional, I contribute to developing, implementing, and sharing creative, inclusive programs. As an employee, I benefit from the world-class culture at PointClickCare. My role in the Pride Network Committee is to foster inclusion by making everyone feel accepted and valued, no matter who they love, how they identify, or how they express themselves. I am privileged to hear stories from my peers about how they learned to love themselves, the difficulties of being a 2SLGBTQ+ ally and I get to rejoice in their achievements." Interested in joining our team? Check out our open opportunities: https://bit.ly/3wfXLBF #LifeatPCC #IChoosePCC #Pride2024🏳️🌈

HouseProud is excited to share an update on our recent activities during Pride and beyond. We are the LGBTQIA+ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Champion Network (DEICN) for Houseful, and in the second week of Pride month, we focused our activities on #BeingTheChange and demonstrating how we can embody the positive transformation we wish to see.Last week, we released a HousefulShort video to our entire organisation, highlighting our initiatives as a network, centred around our four pillars:1️⃣ Inclusive LeadershipWe aim to engage senior leaders and managers in fostering an LGBTQ-inclusive culture.2️⃣ Equitable Policies and BenefitsWe are reviewing all our policies and benefits to ensure they are inclusive and equitable for LGBTQIA+ employees, ensuring they feel represented and supported in the workplace.3️⃣ Engagement and Support Across the Employee LifecycleWe are examining how we engage and support LGBTQIA+ employees at each key touchpoint throughout their career journey, from attraction and recruitment to exit.4️⃣ Improving Our DataWe are enhancing our LGBTQIA+ data collection, monitoring, analysis, and reporting to better understand representation and prioritise initiatives based on data.In addition, HouseProud members came together to share personal stories, aiming to raise awareness, advocate for colleagues, and educate the broader organisation. We discussed our everyday experiences as LGBTQIA+ individuals in the UK and provided resources for further reading on the community's current challenges. This week, our focus is on #BuildingTogether, creating connections, and celebrating the ties that unite us. Stay tuned for next week’s update on our continued efforts!

In this week's 'I am Inclusive' campaign, we have Luis Canto E Castro from Mildon. We were delighted to ask Luis the following questions:➡ What does inclusivity mean to you, and why is it important in the workplace? This is something that I live and breathe every day… Without inclusion, so many people get left behind. Inclusivity is about ensuring equitable experience for all and creating an environment where people can thrive just like anybody else.➡ Can you share some examples of inclusive practices you have implemented in your workplace, and why are they important to you?One of the highlights would be Disability Days, which means that if there are mandatory medical appointments that need to be attended or any appointments associated with someone's disability it is time off without any use of annual leave or sick days, so it is a completely different allocation of days.➡How do you ensure that diversity and inclusion are integrated into your company's culture and values, and what steps do you take to promote a sense of belonging among all employees? We have weekly catch up to ensure team cohesion, we have staff engagement surveys, and career development sessions, everyone contributes as if they are an owner of the business rather than employees.Thank you so much, Luis, for taking part in our campaign and championing the efforts and practices you have in place for an inclusive workplace. Keep an eye out throughout the rest of June for practical tips employers can implement for inclusivity....#Disability #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkplaceCulture #DisabilityConnect

How Employers Can Be Inclusive to Neurodivergent or Disabled Employees:From September 23rd to 29th, we celebrate National Inclusion Week. It's a great time to reflect on how you can make your workplaces more inclusive, especially for neurodivergent or disabled employees. Here are some practical steps employers can take to help these employees get into work, be supported in work, and stay with the company.Getting Into Work1. Accessible Job Listings: Ensure job postings are in accessible formats. Use clear, simple language and avoid jargon.2. Inclusive Recruitment: Train hiring managers on inclusive practices. Consider alternative interview formats, like video submissions or working interviews.3. Reasonable Adjustments: Be open to making adjustments during the recruitment process. This could include providing extra time for tests or allowing support persons during interviews.Being Supported in Work1. Flexible Work Arrangements: Offer flexible hours or remote work options. This can help employees manage their health needs better.2. Assistive Technology: Provide necessary tools and technology. This could be screen readers, speech-to-text software, or ergonomic furniture.3. Training and Awareness: Conduct regular training sessions on neurodiversity and disability awareness. Encourage a culture of understanding and support.Retaining Employees1. Career Development: Create clear career paths and development opportunities. Offer mentorship programs and regular feedback sessions.2. Employee Resource Groups: Support the formation of groups where employees can share experiences and resources. This fosters a sense of community and belonging.3. Regular Check-ins: Have frequent one-on-one meetings to discuss any challenges and adjustments needed. Show that you value their well-being and contributions.By implementing these practices, employers can create a more inclusive environment where neurodivergent and disabled employees can thrive. This not only benefits the employees but also enriches the workplace with diverse perspectives and talents.#impactmatters #nationalinclusionweek2024 #nationalinclusion #neurodivergent #neurodiverse #inclusion #neuroassist #neurodiversity #awareness #inclusive #neuroinclusion #neurodiversityawareness #disabilityawareness #inspireinclusion #adhd #autism #audhd
